We also know that during uncertain times, you may feel the need to have additional cash on hand, which makes sense, but we encourage you to consider the risk and safety of withdrawing large amounts at any time. Since 1933, no depositor has ever lost a penny of FDIC-insured funds. When your funds are kept in the bank, you are less likely to be the victim of theft. Please know that we care about you and your wellbeing and that is why we are providing this reminder.
Every day we are working with customers who reach out to us for support – and you will be happy to know that our commitment to individuals, small businesses, nonprofits and the most vulnerable among us is also a top priority. Our branches remain open via drive-up and appointment, ensuring there is no interruption of service. Our Commercial Team is working with our business clients to ensure they are provided the support they need. We know that many nonprofits rely on fundraising events that are being cancelled but we are continuing to provide the support that they need. We truly understand and embrace our role as a Maine community bank that, along with all other Maine banks, are making donations to food pantries to help address food insecurity during this time. Members of our retail team have been proactively calling our elderly customers – just to check in and make sure they are okay. These examples make me particularly proud of Norway Savings Bank.
