NSB Donates $1,000 to Yarmouth Lions Club to Celebrate Organization’s 75th Anniversary
YARMOUTH—Since 1949, the Yarmouth Lions Club has been driven by a mission to improve the quality of life for residents. A succinct statement but a goal that has been achieved in countless ways by caring citizens.
“The contributions of the Lions Club to Yarmouth are well known and widespread,” said Maria Edwards, Branch Manager VP for the Norway Savings Bank branch in Yarmouth. “It is certainly a beloved organization and one that rightfully receives consistent support from members, volunteers, and local organizations and businesses.”
Including Norway Savings, which has gladly donated $1,000 to the Yarmouth Lions Club in commemoration of the club’s 75th anniversary.
“The Yarmouth Lions Club serves through regular volunteerism, by raising money to provide financial assistance to dozens of local aid organizations and neighbors in need, and by supporting the maintenance, beautification, and safety of Yarmouth,” said Adrienne Nardi, President of the Yarmouth Lions Club. “None of this work and impact would be possible without businesses like Norway Savings Bank believing in our singular purpose to serve.”
The service takes so many forms: collecting thousands of eyeglasses each year for repair and re-distribution to people who can’t afford them; raising money at the Yarmouth Clam Festival for local organizations; awarding scholarships to local students by holding various fundraisers; providing hundreds of meals and gifts to families in need; and offering hundreds and hundreds of hours in volunteer time. The list goes on and on and has been extensive since the group’s inception.
“All of our fundraising profits go right back into helping our community,” said Nardi. “We’re always looking for new participants to join our cause.”
“Speaking for all of NSB, I want to congratulate the Yarmouth Lions Club on reaching 75 years of delivering kindness, help, and impact to the area and its residents. Their work is inspiring and has undoubtedly instilled a spirit of giving in generations of people. Our genuine thanks for all they’ve done and all that’s to come,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings.
