NSB Continues Sponsorship Tradition of Woodsmen’s Day at Oxford County Fair with $2,500 Donation
Norway Savings has served as the event’s main sponsor for over 25 years.
OXFORD—Since its inception in 1842, the Oxford County Fair has been a September staple for residents and visitors from across the county. The fair features all of the festival favorites for family fun, live music, food, amusement rides, and of course, contests and demonstrations that celebrate the beauty of rural life and the importance of local agriculture.
One of the fair’s most beloved traditions is the annual Woodsmen’s Day which hosts a variety of competitions for men and women like log rolling, ax throwing, chainsaw cutting, and others.
Set for Friday, September 13, at 10 a.m., Woodsmen’s Day is once again sponsored by Norway Savings Bank, which has happily donated $2,500 to continue serving as the main supporter of the event, a title it has held for over 25 years.
“It’s always a treat to look through the schedule and see all of the traditional events and the new activities and competitions being added. It’s also impressive to observe how much time and effort the organizers put into ensuring the next generation develops a passion and appreciation of the fair and what it represents, including with an Education Day on Wednesday,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings. “The fair has something for everyone and means a great deal to so many people. NSB is pleased to be a part of this great fair which has stood the test of time and certainly made its mark.”
“It has been a great asset to have the interest and contributions of Norway Savings Bank in helping to continue this great event for many, many years,” said Elaine Emery, an organizer of Woodsmen’s Day. “Every year, it draws competitors from New England and around the country and certainly delights the crowds that gather to take it in.”
