NSB Donates $2,500 to Western Maine Youth Athlete Support Association in Bridgton; Bank Has Served as Major Donor for Over 15 Years
BRIDGTON—Camaraderie and a love of sport can be found in the wide smiles and high fives displayed by the hundreds of local children who have benefited from the Western Maine Youth Athlete Support Association (WMYASA) through the years.
Norway Savings Bank has been a longtime, major supporter of the association, which allows youngsters in the Lake Region area to participate and receive instruction in golf, tennis, hockey, skating, and other sports. This month, NSB happily contributed $2,500 in support of the impact.
“NSB’s generosity has been instrumental in providing these experiences and opportunities to children who otherwise might never be exposed to the important lessons and life skills that come from participating in sports,” said James Mains, WMYASA Director.
Many local programs receive assistance and direction from the WMYASA. For instance, donations enabled much needed financial support to reach the Pleasant Mountain Ski Club this year.
“This group has been instrumental in introducing and giving our area youth the opportunity to participate in the sport of skiing,” said Mains. “The WMYASA’s sole purpose is to encourage area youth to build a lifelong love of sports and set them up with the chances to accomplish it. With support from businesses like Norway Savings Bank that appreciate what we’re doing and understand the importance, we are able to offer these special moments to more and more kids.”
