NSB Donations to Viking FUNds for MSAD #17 Reach $20,000 in 2026; Contributions Eclipse $90,000 Since 2022

OXFORD HILLS— It’s a labor of love that is an honor for Norway Savings Bank.

Viking FUNds is a bank-initiated program that funds enjoyable, educational, and enlightening field trips for elementary-school students in MSAD #17 (Norway, Oxford, West Paris, South Paris, Otisfield, Harrison, Hebron, and Waterford).

In early October, NSB contributed another $10,000 to Viking FUNds, bringing the total donations to $20,000 in 2026. The bank has been proud to finance the program with over $90,000 in donations since late 2022.

“This funding has allowed us to give our students experiences they would otherwise not have had,” said Jessika Sheldrick, Principal of Otisfield Community School. “Norway Savings Bank’s generous donations help us broaden the students’ horizons.”

The money has gone to incredible use, sending children on field trips to over 20 locations around New England, from Maine Wildlife Park in Gray to the Freedom Trail in Boston.

“The support from NSB has been overwhelming and so appreciated,” said Cathy Bickford, Principal of Rowe Elementary School in Norway. “These experiences would not be possible without the Viking FUNds!”

“There are so many benefits to field trips, including learning, collaborating, researching, planning, improving social skills, developing leadership skills, and more,” said Sheldrick.

“Viking FUNds provide impactful experiences and meaningful moments to local children without adding to the financial responsibilities of families,” said Darci Hamm, President of Norway Savings. “NSB is honored and grateful to have the opportunity to provide these amazing learning opportunities for students.”
