Two Female Entrepreneurs Open Falmouth Orthodontist Practice

Practice is launched with creative financing through SBA Guaranteed Loans and new low-interest loan program designed to help expand women-owned businesses in Maine

Falmouth, Maine – November 2, 2016 – A brand new women-owned orthodontics office called mBrace Orthodontics has officially opened its doors in Falmouth, with the help of local financing from Norway Savings Bank, including SBA guaranteed loans and a new low-interest rate loan program called Jobs for New England.

The new practice is the dream of Dr. Tarryn Mac Carthy and Dr. Meghann Dombroski, fondly known as Drs. Mac and Meg, who are practicing orthodontists, University of New England Dental School professors, and moms. “Orthodontics is really about building confidence through the creation of beautiful smiles,” said Dr. Mac Carthy. “We are excited to start a brand new enterprise and to build a business that is committed to our community and to supporting local talent, resources and other local businesses.”

Getting a new business off the ground takes more than a vision. It requires a strong business plan, a tenacious work ethic, and working capital. To realize their dream, the two doctors turned to local businesses including Norway Savings Bank for the commercial loans they needed, a local architectural designer and interior designer to create a state-of-the-art medical office space, and a local graphic designer to create a memorable logo.

Norway Savings Bank is a participant in the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston’s Jobs for New England program, which allows banks to offer low-interest loans to businesses in an effort to help stimulate the local economy, preserve jobs and expand women-owned, minority-owned or veteran-owned businesses.

“It’s clear Dr. Mac Carthy and Dr. Dombroksi are passionate about what they do and have a unique vision for their practice and really care about empowering people through beautiful smiles,” said Patricia Weigel, President of Norway Savings Bank. “I consider it our job to explore creative ways to help businesses of all sizes realize their dreams and this new program allows us to support small business owners, especially women-owned businesses.”

Dr. Dombroski continued, “We’re essentially a start-up business with a dream, a plan, a promise, and incredible enthusiasm. To realize our dream, we needed an incredible financial partner like Norway Savings Bank. The bank was able to see what we needed and give us the support that got us off the ground.”
“They really dug in and worked with us and in the end delivered creative financing solutions that worked. Without Norway Savings Bank, I don’t think we’d be standing here in this amazing new space ready to serve our patients, only four months after securing our loan,” noted Dr. Dombroski.

With the loans secured and a lease signed, the two doctors went to work creating a beautiful and comfortable space for their patients and their families. Drs. Mac Carthy and Dombroski hired a local interior designer to help them build out the 3,500 square-foot space so that areas of it have the feel of a comfortable living room alongside state-of-the-art treatment areas. Highlights of the space include:

• Spacious reception room and treatment areas filled with natural light
• A living room-like reception area filled with comfortable seating to encourage conversation
• L-shaped farmhouse table equipped with 12 electrical outlets for students to do homework or parents to check email, etc.
• Retractable screen in the reception room for presentation space that will accommodate up to 60 people
• Convenient location and Falmouth School bus stop for busy families
