NSB Contributes $1,000 to Ogunquit-Based TramutoPorter Foundation
OGUNQUIT—On July 30, the TramutoPorter Foundation will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special gala at Camp Sunshine on Sebago Lake. The event will celebrate a quarter century of fostering education, health, and well-being through initiatives that provide college scholarships and mentoring. help combat loneliness, and respond to critical needs in ways that create lasting positive impacts. Norway Savings Bank is proud to be donating $1,000 to serve as a sponsor of the gala.
The impetus of the Foundation was the tragic events of 9/11, when Donato Tramuto was set to travel with friends from his hometown of Ogunquit to a healthcare company he created in California on United Flight 175. A dental emergency prevented him from the flight, but his friends perished in the plane crash. The Foundation serves as a living tribute in their memory, a reminder that good remains prevalent in the world, and that the smallest acts of kindness and charity should be recognized and honored.
Every five years, the Foundation celebrates its grant and scholarship recipients at a special gala where hundreds of friends gather in support of the organization. The Camp Sunshine venue honors the recipients of scholarships, many of whom have overcome a difficult situation in life. Donato lost much of his hearing as a young boy.
“Donato’s story and this entire Foundation symbolizes the strength of determination and goodwill in the face of adversity,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “We’re proud to play a small role in helping them celebrate the remarkable, positive difference they’ve made in so many lives and the renewal of their commitment to continue providing assistance to many deserving people in need.”
