NSB Assisting Two North Conway Area Organizations Promoting the Environment
NORTH CONWAY—As construction continues at Norway Savings Bank’s new full-service branch opening on May 19 at the corner of Route 302 and Eagles Way, the bank is thrilled to support local organizations doing great things, including the celebration and promotion of our natural world.
NSB has donated $500 to Tin Mountain Conservation Center in Albany, an organization that promotes an appreciation of the environment in children, families, and the community. Founded in 1980, Tin Mountain provides the Mount Washington Valley region and western Maine with high-quality environmental education programs, community outreach, and summer nature camps. The organization’s Nature Program Series offers more than 70 annual programs, while Tin Mountain’s Research Programs focus on Avian and Native Brook Trout Research.
“All of the offerings at the center are possible because organizations like NSB appreciate the importance of environmental education. This donation from NSB provides support for all we do, including in our schools’ programs, at summer camps where we offer scholarships and provide all campers with the best experience possible, and our popular Community Science programs,” said Lori Jean Kinsey, Executive Director of Tin Mountain Conservation Center.
NSB has also contributed $500 to Trout Unlimited, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and protecting the cold-water resources in the Saco River Watershed of Mount Washington Valley. The donation will help present Valley Clean Up Day on May 4, an annual event that features volunteers of all ages participating in a massive litter cleanup throughout the area.
“We’re grateful for the contributions of Norway Savings in support of this special community effort that continues to grow in size and impact,” said Ron Mellady of Trout Unlimited. “Our job is to serve as stewards to this great and historic watershed as well as the treasures held within. Local businesses and organizations like this help in creating an ‘army’ of spirited and inspired people keeping our streets and community clean.”
