BE AWARE: Recent Increase in Fraudulent Texts to Customers
In recent weeks, a variety of fraudulent texts, falsely claiming to be from Norway Savings Bank and other banks, have been sent by fraudsters to many of our customers. Among the fraudulent texts (examples below) are:
- Messages that ask you to click on a link to deny a fake charge at a retail store
- Messages that ask you to click on a link to resolve fake suspected activities
- Messages that ask you to click on a link to confirm a fake PIN change
Please do not click on the links. These are scams. NSB will never ask you to provide or confirm personal details or confidential information via text.
Sadly, these fraudulent texts are being received by customers at many banks across Maine and the country. If you think you may have clicked on one of these fraudulent texts, don’t panic. Just give us a call at 1-888-725-2207 and speak to a Norway Savings Bank Customer Care Center team member.
In addition, NSB has produced a free Safe Banking video series to help you learn how scammers find you, how to identify scams, how to defend yourself against scams, and what to do if you think you’ve been scammed. The video series and other useful resources are available in the NSB Security section on our website: www.norwaysavings.bank/security/#Safe-Banking.
Thank you for your vigilance in not clicking on potentially dangerous links in your text messages.
