NSB Makes Surprise $1,000 Donation to Tedford Housing
BRUNSWICK—In an effort to lend assistance to local nonprofits in the season of giving, Norway Savings Bank has been dropping off “Holiday Helping Hands” donations to many organizations across the state, including Tedford Housing in Brunswick.
Founded in 1987, Tedford Housing is driven by the ideal that everyone deserves a safe and affordable home. The organization provides an emergency housing building, supportive housing for previously homeless families and individuals, homelessness prevention services and outreach services case management. The new emergency housing building is located on 65 Thomas Point Road near Cook’s Corner.
“The new facility features separate, secure wings for the adult and family shelters and has been thoughtfully designed to ensure safety and security,” said Andrew Lardie, Executive Director of Tedford Housing. “Our staff’s proximity to one another will improve communication and coordination to make the entire organization more collaborative and effective.”
Tedford has grown from a single shelter into a comprehensive resource for reducing homelessness.
In addition to the surprise donation of $1,000, NSB has donated $50,000 to Tedford over the last three years.
“NSB’s contributions help us provide critical services that address the diverse needs of community members,” said Lardie. “Their commitment plays a vital role in our efforts to create sustainable solutions for permanent housing and to reduce homelessness in the region.”
“It’s incredible to see how Tedford Housing improves the quality of life for those in need on a daily basis while continually looking for ways to expand their assistance capabilities to reach even more people,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “To be able to play a small part in helping Tedford empower people to move from homelessness to feeling at home in the community means so much to NSB.”
