NSB Makes $1,000 Holiday Contribution to Seeds of Hope in Biddeford

BIDDEFORD—Seeds of Hope Neighborhood Center in Biddeford strives to facilitate hope through inspiration and empowerment so that those it serves can reach their highest level of independence and experience a sense of belonging. In recognition of Seeds of Hope’s belief in the power of community and compassion, Norway Savings Bank proudly made a surprise $1,000 holiday donation to the organization this month.

“Seeds of Hope serves a growing population of those in our community who have suffered from the effects of the housing crisis, mental health disorders, and related substance abuse. We are also one of very few warming shelters and centers that allow pets, further increasing our value to unhoused neighbors,” said Vassie Fowler, Executive Director of Seeds of Hope. “Seeds of Hope provides support, resources, and hope to those in need.”

The impact is both measurable and magnificent. In the last year, Seeds of Hope, which is located on 35 South Street, provided over 36,000 free meals, more than 3,600 free showers, and resource assistance to nearly 3,000 people. It has also welcomed over 18,000 people into its overnight center and another 10,000 individuals who utilized its warming center.

“Seeds of Hope is kindness in action. The staff and volunteers treat each person with dignity and serve with the understanding that we are stronger together when we work collaboratively to confront challenges and create positive change,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “NSB is happy to help them in their commitment to encouraging mutual respect throughout the community.”

Seeds of Hope is always looking for passionate individuals to join its team of volunteers and accepts a wide variety of donations and assistance. For more information or to learn how you can help out, visit www.seedsofhope4me.org or call 207-571-9601.
