Pat Weigel Award Finalist: NSB Presents $3,000 to Ronald McDonald House

PORTLAND—Representatives from Norway Savings Bank made a special visit to Ronald McDonald House in Portland on February 3 to present the organization with a check for $3,000 (picture, caption below).

The donation is part of Norway Savings’ commemoration of the annual Patricia Weigel Pay It Forward Award, which is decided by team member votes for Maine and New Hampshire nonprofits that had at least one NSB employee volunteer during the year.

This year’s winner was Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) of Maine, which received $10,000. In celebration of NSB’s 160th Anniversary, a new tradition has been established where the two other award finalists (Preble Street and Ronald McDonald House of Maine this year) will each receive $3,000 in gratitude, adding up to $16,000!

On the corner of Bracket and Carleton Streets less than a half mile from Maine Medical Center, the Ronald McDonald House can host up to 34 families at a time, providing a supportive environment, comfort, and care for families as they accompany children during their recoveries from illness or injury. There is also a Ronald McDonald House in Bangor that operates with the same mission.
