NSB Helps the Rebuild of Roberts Farm Preserve’s Warming Hut Deck
NORWAY—Last winter, thanks to a great snowpack, Roberts Farm Preserve in Norway eclipsed the 55,000 visits mark as enthusiasts headed to the picturesque locale to enjoy nearly 25 kilometers of groomed Nordic skiing.
The astounding rise in visitors was a welcome sight, but it also carried with it the need for essential repairs.
“The Warming Hut is a vital part of our Roberts Farm operations,” said Korey Morgan, Executive Director of the Western Foothills Land Trust (WFLT) which oversees the preserve. “It’s where we manage free ski rentals and where visitors, especially children, come to warm up and drink hot cocoa before heading back out on the trails. Unfortunately, the deck at the Warming Hut needed to be rebuilt. We simply couldn’t put it off another season.”
Enter Norway Savings Bank. When the cost of the $3,000 project ran over, NSB contributed $1,500 to cover the difference and ensure a renovated deck would be in place for the approaching winter.
“We were happy to be in a place where we could help WFLT complete this project without constraints,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of NSB, which has donated more than $30,000 to WFLT in recent years. “We’re so grateful for all of the work WFLT does to provide access to nature for countless residents and visitors. As a result, mental and physical health are improved across the community, and generations enjoy the gifts and benefits of the outdoors.”

The Warming Hut at Roberts Farm Preserve is open daily during the ski season, providing Nordic ski equipment and snowshoes for use by donation, and a daily trails report is posted to the organization’s website all winter.
