Pat Weigel Award Finalist: NSB Donates $3,000 to Preble Street

SOUTH PORTLAND—NSB representatives were thrilled to drop off a $3,000 check for Preble Street after the organization was a finalist for the annual Patricia Weigel Pay It Forward Award (picture, caption below).

Preble Street is dedicated to empowering people experiencing problems with hunger, housing, and homelessness through a variety of programs that address urgent needs and create lasting solutions. The organization also operates two soup kitchens serving over a million meals to people in need each year. This year’s Pat Weigel Award winner was Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) of Maine, which received $10,000. In celebration of NSB’s 160th Anniversary, a new tradition has been established where the two other award finalists, Preble Street and Ronald McDonald House this year,  each receive $3,000 in gratitude, adding up to $16,000!

The Patricia Weigel Pay It Forward Award is decided by team member votes for Maine and New Hampshire nonprofits that had at least one NSB employee volunteer during the year.

Preble Street depends on volunteers and financial support to continue its benevolent mission. To learn more about how you can help the cause by volunteering, donating, or otherwise taking action, visit www.preblestreet.org/you-can-help.
