NSB Supporting Portland Ballet’s Major Outdoor Family Event on July 25
PORTLAND—Norway Savings Bank is pleased to donate $1,000 to Portland Ballet in support of a joyful community event set for the Eastern Promenade on Saturday, July 25 (rain date: July 26).
‘Midsummer on the Prom: A Ballet Picnic’ will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. by the Eastern Prom’s Gazebo. The family event is expected to draw over 400 attendees and will feature performances, lessons, activities, crafts, and even mini horses from Riding To The Top Therapeutic Riding Center in Windham. The event hopes to bring together dance, community, and midsummer magic against the backdrop of Casco Bay. Tickets and information can be found here. Proceeds from the event will directly support Portland Ballet’s year-round work, including youth classes, scholarships, and outreach initiatives that make dance education accessible to a broad and diverse population.
“For nearly half a century, Portland Ballet has invited people of all ages and communities into the art of ballet as dancers, fans, and patrons. It’s a celebrated component of Maine’s cultural life and an innovative leader in local and regional arts,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of NSB. “We’re proud to help the organization nurture the next generation of dancers, dance students, and enthusiasts in learning about the joys and possibilities of ballet.”
“We believe ballet is for everybody and that access to the arts makes our region more vibrant, healthy, and connected,” said Melissa Martens Yaverbaum, Executive Director of Portland Ballet. “NSB’s support helps Portland Ballet introduce children and families across Cumberland County and beyond to the joy of dance, many for the first time.”
“We’re grateful to Portland Ballet for enriching and strengthening Maine’s communities through performance, education, and shared artistic experiences,” said Walsh.
