Payday Loan Scam Alert

Please beware of payday loan scams. We’ve received reports of payday loan companies asking applicants for their Internet Banking credentials in order to deposit loan funds. Providing your Internet Banking login information opens the door for scam artists to access your accounts, including Bill Pay services, and to deposit fraudulent checks into your account.

Norway Savings Bank, or any other reputable lender, will never call you, email you or send you a text message to ask for your personal account information or access to your Internet Banking account.

If you suspect you may have been a victim of fraud, please contact us immediately. We strongly encourage you to monitor your accounts frequently and we make it easy for you to monitor your accounts in real time using the following services:

If you have been the victim of a payday loan scam or notice unauthorized transactions on your account, please notify us immediately by calling the Customer Care Center at 1.888.725.2207 during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Additionally, if you notice unauthorized debit card activity after hours, such as weekends or holidays, please call 1.800.472.3272 to have your debit card frozen. It is important to remember that you are protected by MasterCard’s Zero Liability protection policy should you have debit card fraud on your account.

For additional tips and best practices, please visit our Resource Center to help safeguard your accounts and identity from fraud.
