NSB Presents Telstar High School in Bethel with $20,000
In late October, NSB President and CEO Dan Walsh and other bank team members visited Bethel to present a check for $20,000, part of a multiyear commitment to fund the NorthStar 4-H Youth Mentoring Program experience for a cohort of students at Telstar High School.
Since 2022, NSB has been proud to fund the opportunity for students to participate in the program conducted by the University of Maine 4-H Camp and Learning Center at Bryant Pond. The program aims to expand horizons, increase self-resilience, and showcase leadership skills for young people in rural communities, helping students discover passions and purposes while raising academic performance. NSB is also providing access to the program for a cohort of students at Oxford Hills Middle School.
“It doesn’t take long to realize how impactful NorthStar is in the many ways it teaches and encourages effective communication, conflict resolution, and goal setting,” said Walsh. “The genuine enthusiasm of both the students and the adults is great to see, and you can tell the participants are gaining a new and fresh appreciation for all of the positive things Maine and the world have to offer.”
