NSB Fulfills $50,000 Commitment to Tedford Housing
BRUNSWICK—As the work continues on the construction of Tedford Housing’s new emergency housing building in Brunswick, members of the Norway Savings Bank team had the opportunity to visit the site of the highly anticipated facility on June 5, bringing a check for $16,500 with them (picture below). The check fulfills a $50,000 bank commitment to a project that will help an inestimable amount of people in the years to come.
“I’m amazed at the construction progress and the extraordinary generosity of Norway Savings Bank,” said Andrew Lardie, Executive Director of Tedford Housing.
Founded in 1987, Tedford Housing is driven by the ideal that everyone deserves a safe and affordable home. The organization provides an emergency homeless shelter, supportive housing for previously homeless families and individuals, homelessness prevention services and outreach services case management. It has grown from a single shelter into a comprehensive resource for reducing homelessness. The new emergency housing building will be located on Thomas Point Road near Cook’s Corner. Set to open in the winter of 2025-26, it will allow Tedford to consolidate its current adult and family shelters as well as its administrative offices.
“The new facility will feature separate secure wings for the adult and family shelters and has been thoughtfully designed to ensure safety and security,” said Lardie. “Our staff’s proximity to one another will improve communication and coordination to make the entire organization more collaborative and effective.”
“It’s incredible to see how Tedford Housing improves the quality of life for those in need on a daily basis while continually looking for ways to expand their assistance capabilities to reach even more people,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “To be able to play a small part in helping Tedford offer these vital services and empower people to move from homelessness to feeling at home in the community means so much to NSB.”
“An investment in this new building is an investment in human dignity and in our communities,” said Larissa Darcy, Commercial Lending VP for NSB. “This project will facilitate Tedford in creating housing stability that will have a significant and lasting impact on all of us.”
“Norway Savings Bank’s leadership makes such a difference,” said Lardie. “This new facility will be a critical piece of public health infrastructure for the Midcoast. When we realize our vision of a stronger safety net, it’s not just individuals who benefit, it’s families, employers, schools, and the entire community.”
