Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Celebrates NSB’s New North Conway Branch
NORTH CONWAY — “The hard work extends back years, but as I stand here tonight, the commitment to bringing this long hoped for vision to life was most certainly worth it.”
The words of Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank, underscored the beautiful new building behind him and preceded a special ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 3 that “officially” opened the new Norway Savings Bank branch, located on 11 Commercial Drive at the corner of Route 302 and Eagles Way in North Conway (pictures below). NSB team members came together with customers, community leaders, and many people who played a key role in the construction of the new branch at the event.
The new branch stands as a pillar of the Ridgeline Community, a 126-acre development that is being created to serve various housing and senior living needs in the area.
“We understand that we’re just a small piece of a very large Ridgeline development plan, but we also hope we’ve shown our commitment to the Mount Washington Valley with the investment we’ve made in this building and will continue to make in supporting the community,” said Brian Shibles, Finance Officer EVP for Norway Savings Bank, who was involved in the process of constructing NSB’s first New Hampshire branch from the start.
Michelle Luce, Market Manager AVP for Norway Savings, introduced attendees to the experienced branch team who will serve them.
“This community is so warm and inviting, and I already feel like I’m home when I’m here, so thank you for the incredible welcome you’ve given to NSB,” Luce told those assembled.
“Many people have worked tirelessly to ensure this branch is not only warm and welcoming, but also energy-efficient,” said Walsh. “We care about the people who will be assisted here and we value being a member of this amazing community. Our investment in constructing this beautiful building shows how committed we are to being entrenched in the North Conway area. We strive to be a good neighbor, serve the people who walk through these doors, and assist those who need help outside them through our support of many local nonprofits.”
That list already includes Mount Washington Valley Housing Coalition, Tin Mountain Conservation Center, Trout Unlimited, Conway Humane Society, Memorial Hospital Foundation and Valley Cleanup Day, and grew by one during the ceremony as Walsh presented Kennett High School Principal Kevin Carpenter with a check for $500 to thank the school, which is located next to the new branch, for its warm welcome to the neighborhood.
In addition, the branch’s community room is now available for local organizations to use for meetings at no cost, and the bank’s Coins for Community drive will turn loose change brought in by customers and residents into donations for local nonprofits.
“The bank is already making an impact through donations and involvement in area nonprofits, and it’s clear that the bank is committed to promoting a brighter future and being a part of the many amazing things happening in the Valley,” said Chris Proulx, Executive Director of the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce. “NSB is prioritizing doing what it can to be a key part of the economic growth and development of the wider community, and we look forward to celebrating the positive difference Norway Savings will make in the months and years to come.”
The local flavor extended to the food at the celebration as hors d’oeuvres were provided by the students of Mount Washington Valley Career & Technical Center.
Be sure to stop by the branch this month. Throughout June, all visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite local nonprofit as part of a contest that will distribute $2,525 to North Conway area organizations. Votes can be cast for Conway Humane Society, Jen’s Friends Cancer Foundation, Tin Mountain Conservation Center, Visiting Nurse Home Care & Hospice, and for any nonprofit a visitor would like to write in.
