“Every Day is Earth Day”: New Norway Savings Bank Branch in North Conway Designed with Features to Be “Good Neighbor”
NORTH CONWAY—Taking responsibility for sustainability and reducing environmental impact are chief among the factors that Norway Savings Bank considers in its daily and long-term operations. That commitment is playing out again this spring as NSB prepares to open its 25th branch and first in New Hampshire on May 19 in North Conway. The newly-constructed building stands in front of the Ridgeline Community on 11 Commercial Drive, located at the corner of Route 302 and Eagles Way.

Inside the new branch’s doors, the branch has been constructed with a variety of energy-efficient and conservation features, including: LED lighting; an energy-recovery unit to recycle heat from exhaust air; heat pump technology to efficiently deliver heat and cooling; thermal and spray-foam insulation beyond code-required levels; three-phase power to provide core efficient operation of the HVAC equipment and power; a 24-hour drive-up “smart ATM” that enables customers to make deposits without using envelopes; the extension of NSB’s successful paper recycling program into North Conway; offering customers and visitors JUST Water 100% Spring Water, sustainably sourced water in plant-based cartons, instead of plastic bottles.
“When constructing or renovating buildings, we always analyze the facility’s environmental impact and long-term sustainability, no matter the size of the project,” said Kerry Millett, Facilities and Purchasing Manager VP for NSB. “Investing in an eco-conscious branch in North Conway allows us to lead with purpose, set an example, and support the needs of our team members, customers, and communities.”

In addition, the new branch includes a comfortable seating area with a fireplace, a community room for nonprofits and other groups to use, and several customer service offices to ensure maximum privacy. Rather than a traditional teller line, customers will also experience an innovative open environment with service stations. A two-lane, drive-through banking service will offer customers remote tube access.
