NSB Donates $1,000 to “Monkstoberfest” and Student Life at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine

STANDISH—The shore of Sebago Lake will provide visitors with a taste of Munich on Saturday, October 5, thanks to “Monkstoberfest,” one of the most popular annual events hosted at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine each year.

Monkstoberfest” is a festive Oktoberfest celebration with an SJC twist, and is part of Homecoming Weekend at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. The event, which runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., will be held at the historic and beautiful Stone Barn at Sebago Lake.

“Each ticket includes a drink ticket, a commemorative SJC beer stein, and delicious German-style food. It’s become such a beloved gathering that attracts SJC alumni and friends,” said Haley Thompson, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Advancement, and Admissions/Enrollment at SJC. “Attendees also get to take in the beautiful fall colors surrounding the barn.”

“Monkstoberfest,” a title that also pays tribute to the college’s beloved Monk mascot, will also feature live music. The event is open to the public and all (21+) are encouraged to attend. Tickets are $30 through October 3, and $35 at the door if they’re still available.

All proceeds from “Monkstoberfest” will benefit the Saint Joseph’s College Community Rising Fund, including sponsorships from businesses like Norway Savings Bank, which contributed $1,000 this month.

The Community Rising Fund helps Saint Joseph’s students receive need-based financial aid and scholarships,” said Thompson. “Donations like this from NSB and all of our donors and supporting organizations help our students learn, work, and serve as part of a welcoming and innovative community. It really adds momentum to our mission.”

“I love the sentiment of the fund’s name. Everyone, together, supporting the learners of today as they grow into the leaders of tomorrow will help our whole community rise together,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “NSB is happy to contribute to this ideal and impact, and we hope everyone has a great time on October 5!”
