NSB Donates $1,000 to Genesis Community Loan Fund

BRUNSWICK—Norway Savings Bank has donated $1,000 to the Genesis Community Loan Fund, continuing a long-standing partnership in support of affordable housing and community infrastructure throughout Maine and northern New England.

“Genesis is doing more than ever to build hopeful futures for individuals and communities in Maine and beyond,” said Liza Fleming-Ives, Executive Director of the Genesis Community Loan Fund. “With Norway Savings Bank’s help, we are directing critical resources to the people, projects, and places that need them most.”

Founded over 30 years ago, Genesis has grown from a small pooled loan fund in midcoast Maine to a multifaceted nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). It provides flexible capital and hands-on guidance to support community-driven solutions that expand affordable housing and other critical facilities.

“Genesis strives to ensure a safety net throughout communities by increasing access to vital infrastructure such as health and childcare centers, food pantries, and affordable, high-quality homes, including homes for seniors and people with disabilities,” said Dan Walsh, president & CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “NSB is proud to support an organization that is helping create and sustain thriving, inclusive communities while working to eliminate barriers to prosperity.”

Beyond lending, Genesis offers technical assistance to grassroots and nonprofit partners, helps advance policies that help capital reach communities most in need of it, and opens the door for individuals and institutions to invest directly in community impact.

“NSB shares our commitment to building vibrant, equitable communities where people can thrive, feel connected to each other, and enjoy shared assets that benefit all,” added Fleming-Ives.
