NSB Leaders Visit Declaration of Independence Tour in Norway

NORWAY — As part of our nation’s 250th Anniversary, the Maine Historical Society is providing everyone with the opportunity to view one of our nation’s most important documents.

The organization has been stewarding one of 26 surviving copies of the Dunlap Broadside of the Declaration of Independence through Maine since early July. The copy was printed in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776, and sent to the Colonies to announce American independence.

Norway Savings Bank was happy to serve as sponsor of the tour, which made a stop at Norway Memorial Library on October 9-10 (picture, caption below).

All 16 counties in Maine are getting at least one tour stop and each visit comes with great pomp and circumstance as it includes public and student visitation, community celebrations, readings, and special events.
