NSB Donates $5,000 to Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine
Donation Helping to Provide Unforgettable Experiences to Students in Need
PORTLAND—Each year, the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine (CMTM) provides educational programming, exhibits, and performances to over 200,000 children, families, and caregivers at the museum’s beautiful facility on Thompson’s Point. But the popularity of CMTM has not hampered the nonprofit from finding ways to ensure that as many children as possible benefit from the organization’s incredible offerings. Those efforts inspired a $5,000 donation from Norway Savings Bank to help CMTM deliver STEM education programming for students in low-income and Title I elementary schools.
“It means the world to NSB to have the chance to collaborate with the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine in providing access to the arts, culture, and this educational programming to children from all walks of life,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings. “Supporting this initiative opens doors to children and families who otherwise might not be able to enjoy or benefit from these experiences. We’re moved by the program and thrilled to be able to play a small part in its success.”
“This support from Norway Savings Bank provides a critical complement to Maine’s public-school curriculum and augments the impact of students’ day-to-day educational experiences through experiential learning opportunities and social-emotional skill-building,” said Mariah Healy, Director of Development for CMTM. “The feedback we receive from teachers is overwhelmingly positive and shows us how important it is to keep finding ways to bring students to CMTM, regardless of their ability to pay. We’ve had more than one teacher tell us that a student said, ‘This was the best day of my life!’ after a visit.”
