NSB Team Members Use Recycling Proceeds to Donate $2,000 to Local Nonprofits
NORWAY—Team member participation in the bank’s CLYNK program has led to four local nonprofits receiving $2,000 in assistance to support their worthy missions.
As part of bankwide initiative, over 25,000 bottles and aluminum containers were placed in green CLYNK bags by NSB employees and brought to collection locations.
“It was the first initiative of the Norway Savings Bank Impact Team’s Environmental Alliance and helps reduce the environmental impact of the bank’s consumption of single-use plastics,” said Kerry Millett, Facilities & Purchasing Manager VP.
The NSB Impact Team creates, encourages, and oversees socially responsible and sustainable environmental practices for the bank, promoting environmental sustainability, social justice, team member development, and responsible corporate behavior in the process.
The four nonprofits that received the $2,000 were Pink Feather Foundation, Camp Sunshine of Maine, ProsperityME, and Junior Achievement of Maine (pictures of the check deliveries below).
“The entire bank voted on the recipients,” said Millett. “It’s really a special, meaningful program.”
In addition, the bank transitioned to JUST Water 100% Spring Water, sustainably sourced water in plant-based cartons and eliminated single-use plastic at branches. Further sustainability efforts have saved over 60,000 sheets of paper and reduced carbon emissions by over 9,000 pounds.
“We recognize that our daily work has an impact on the environment, and we take the necessary steps to ensure we are using resources responsibly. Though our various ‘green’ programs like CLYNK, we are also promoting environmental sustainability and social finance,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of NSB. “NSB is committed to helping our team and customers learn that through minor adjustments today, they can help protect our planet for tomorrow.”
