NSB Makes $10,000 Commitment to Healthy Oxford Hills’ Bumps & Babies Program

NORWAY—Having a baby can bring stress and uncertainty to new and expectant mothers. Thanks to Healthy Oxford Hills’ Bumps & Babies program, they are also met with comfort and care.

Part of MaineHealth Stephens Hospital, Healthy Oxford Hills (HOH) is committed to providing health education and initiatives that support healthy lifestyles for people from all walks of life. HOH manages the MaineHealth Food Pantry in Norway, leads the Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Health Implementation initiatives, hosts the Oxford County Wellness Collaborative, and organizes a wide variety of programs that engage community members in building stronger lives.

Included in that long list of beneficial and benevolent initiatives is Bumps & Babies.

“Bumps & Babies is a community-based parent support initiative offering perinatal care for new moms or expecting moms,” said Grace Jandro, Leadership Gift Officer at MaineHealth. “The group meets at Norway Memorial Library for sessions on practical skills like feeding, CPR, and car seat safety as well as mental health, self-care, and mindfulness.”

The group has quickly become a trusted gathering space for connection, education, and access to local professionals. Norway Savings Bank is moved by its purpose and impact, recently committing $10,000 to Bumps & Babies (picture below).

“This funding will help ensure that families have access to essential supplies across every stage of early parenthood, from postpartum recovery to feeding, diapering, and infant safety,” said Hollie Legree-Cressman, Director of HOH. “This includes items that foster a welcoming and supportive group environment like infant support pillows and nutritious snacks, diapers, feeding support items, postpartum supplies, and more. We’re grateful for Norway Savings’ support and appreciation of this critical program that is making a difference in the lives of so many local families.”

“We’re thrilled to contribute to this program that is empowering new mothers with the resources, confidence, and skills they need to thrive,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings. “NSB is thankful for the effort and dedication of MaineHealth, Healthy Oxford Hills, and Bumps & Babies in helping parents and young families have access to these important resources and guidance.”
