“Broadening the Reach:” NSB Donates $1,500 to Bath Area Family YMCA
BATH—When the Bath Area Family YMCA first opened its Central Church doors to a grateful public in May 1856, the activity schedule consisted mainly of Bible classes, lectures, and essay readings until the organization moved into its own building in 1894. Since that time, the Y has expanded to include athletics, childcare, aquatic exercises, and a variety of other programs offered to the community regardless of an individual or family’s ability to pay.
“The Y serves as a cornerstone of our community. When people invest in the Y, they’re supporting an organization dedicated to building programs focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility,” said Christian Ricci, Director of Community and Business Partnerships for Bath Area Family YMCA.
That reach has extended far beyond the Bath limits, serving 14 Midcoast towns and welcoming over 4,000 visitors each week. The Y’s purpose of promoting the health and well-being of those in need, particularly in low-to-moderate income households, has inspired donors for years, including Norway Savings Bank. This month, NSB made its most recent donation of $1,500.
“I would like to express our sincere gratitude for Norway Savings Bank’s generous support. NSB’s commitment to community development and well-being has played a vital role in sustaining the programs and services we provide to individuals and families,” said Ricci.
“Broadening the reach of Bath Area Family YMCA and playing a small part in the organization’s impact as they enhance programs and develop new initiatives is something we are thankful to be able to do,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “The activities and community-building it offers are tremendous, of course, but the bank is also moved by the childcare services the Y provides, enabling parents to participate in the workforce and truly contributing to a healthy economy. The work of staff and volunteers is incredible.”
