Two-Factor Authentication

Norway Savings Bank’s customers who use Internet and Mobile Banking will notice a new, more secure login experience called “two-factor authentication.”

What is two-factor authentication?

It provides even more security for Internet Banking and Mobile Banking by requiring users to not only use their password, but also input a second layer of authorization – a personalized code – when they log in.  This is fairly common technology that you may have already used with other apps and websites.

What does this mean for you?

After two-factor authentication is launched and you log in to Internet and Mobile Banking for the first time, you will be provided with a code to complete the login process– either through text or a phone call. You will be asked to verify or edit your phone number at that time.  Note: Our system does not use email to provide the code.

Will I need to use two-factor authentication every time I log in?

You will not need to use a code to log in every time you access Internet or Mobile Banking.  A code will only be required when the system detects higher-risk situations. For instance, if it detects a new device or if you’re logging in from an unusual location, you may be required to use two-factor authentication.
