Pocket Change used to purchase STEM materials for MSAD 15 Schools

GRAY, Maine— Every day, community members pass through the Gray Branch of Norway Savings Bank putting their spare change to good use supporting the Gray/New Gloucester schools.  Through the Bank’s “Pocket Change for Patriots” program, Norway Savings Bank was able to present a check for $500 to help engage students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs.

MSAD 15 teachers and staff have been looking for ways to build their students interest in STEM programs.  With this donation, they plan to purchase kits that will be age specific for each grade level providing students with a hands on approach to learning.

“Memorial School is grateful to Norway Savings Bank for its generous Pocket Change for Patriots donation,” states Memorial School Principal, Amanda Hennessey.  “We plan to allocate the $500 donation for the purchase of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) materials for our kindergarten, first grade, and second grade classrooms.”

Since opening in 2014, the Norway Savings Bank Gray branch has donated 100% of the fees collected from the coin counting machine to the Gray New-Gloucester school district for different programs the schools plan to deliver.

Norway Savings Bank Gray Branch Manager, Elysia Avery and Mary Martell FSS – Norway Savings Bank, present a check to students and faculty at Memorial School.
