NORWAY, Maine – Norway Savings Bank is excited to have pledged a three-year, $30,000 donation as a Gold-Level Sponsor to Portland Community Squash
(PCS). PCS is a non-profit community center delivering wellness and educational opportunities – centered around the game of squash – to families of all backgrounds and income levels. Since opening the community center in 2017, PCS has been providing recreation, education and nutrition for more than 200 families representing 26 countries and speaking 17 languages.
“Squash is the hook,” said Barrett Takesian, Executive Director of PCS. “But our programs also provide transportation, academic support, nutrition/wellness, character development, travel, home visits, social events and more. Some students spend 25 hours per week here from 3rd grade through high school graduation.”
“PCS is an incredible community resource with a highly dedicated staff,” said Dan Walsh, President of Norway Savings Bank. “With squash as the centerpiece, they provide a host of other services like tutoring, after-school care, college preparation and wellness classes. Because they focus on working with kids from elementary school through high school graduation, PCS builds a relationship with the entire family and makes a real difference in the lives of those they serve.”
