NORWAY, Maine – Norway Savings Bank is proud to congratulate Thad Thorne of Fryeburg, winner of our local round of the Lights, Camera, Save! video contest.

The Lights, Camera, Save! video contest is one of several components of the American Bankers Association (ABA) Education Foundation’s Teach Children to Save program. This component is a unique competition that encourages teens to use video to educate themselves and their peers about the value of saving and using money wisely.

Thad’s video, entitled Save So You Can, provides viewers with a clear message regarding the importance of saving.  The video shows how saving – even small amounts – can add up and become an investment for the future, whether it be a college education, a new car or traveling the world. Thad’s winning video can be viewed on the Norway Savings Bank YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBtvoRW8bpx_MH0qF-aDBd-YnEj22GhFv

Thad is a student at Fryeburg Academy who enjoys creating short films and plans to pursue a career in filmmaking. His winning video submission earned him a $250 college scholarship from Norway Savings Bank, which was presented at the Fryeburg branch on Thursday, December 21st. His video has also been submitted to the ABA Education Foundation to represent Norway Savings Bank at the national level of the Lights, Camera, Save! contest. Winners at the national level will receive $5,000, $2,500 or $1,000 to help fund their savings goals.

“If I win at the National level, I will be saving the money “So I Can.” For now, I will be crossing my fingers until March,” stated Thorne.
