Three Non-profits Benefit from Norway Savings Bank Employee Wellness Challenge

Safe Voices, Ronald McDonald House and Cabin in the Woods each receive $250 Donation

NORWAY, Maine – Each year, Norway Savings Bank employees participate in a Wellness Challenge in an effort to encourage healthy eating, exercise and other positive behaviors.  This year, the prize for the top 3 teams was a donation of $250 to the non-profit of their choice.

The winning teams and associated non-profits were:

Safe Voices – chosen by Deposit Operations and Retail Support. Safe Voices is a Lewiston-based organization dedicated to supporting and empowering women who are affected by domestic violence.
Cabin in the Woods – chosen by Human Resources, Finance and Facilities – Cabin in the Woods is a supportive rural community of 21 cabins at Togus VA Medical Center, which provides permanent housing to homeless veterans and their families.
Ronald McDonald House – chosen by Retail Lending Center and Audit. Ronald McDonald House is a place for families to call home when they have a child undergoing treatment at one of Portland’s hospitals.

“We believe healthy competition is a good thing,” said Richelle Wallace, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Norway Savings Bank.  “Our six-week nutrition challenge, which pits teams against one another with the goals of drinking more water, eating more whole foods and cooking more wholesome meals at home. With more than 68% of the employee base participating, we were able to impact the eating habits of more than 200 people.  Being able to donate $750 to these worthy organizations was the icing on the cake!”
