NORWAY, Maine – Norway Savings Bank is proud to announce a donation of $10,000 to the historic Deertrees Theatre in Harrison, Maine for a major overhaul to the audience seating. This gift will be paid over two years.

A long-time destination for arts and entertainment, the Deertrees Theatre was built in 1936. It has served as an opera house, home to summer stock, and now hosts season after season of great music, comedy, theater and children’s programming.

Listed on Maine’s State Register of Historic Landmarks and on the National Registry of Historic Places, Deertrees is an old building, with a long list of maintenance requirements.

“One of the keys to a great theater is its seats,” said Andrew Harris, Artistic and Executive Director of the Deertrees Theatre. “We had to replace a large number of our seats to enhance the acoustics and give our patrons a more comfortable experience. We are so thankful that Norway Savings came through with a donation that will cover this expense.”

“Deertrees is a cultural gem in our area,” said Patricia Weigel, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “It attracts theater-goers from all over to the Harrison area, creating economic vitality and opportunities. We are proud to help them maintain this historic landmark for generations to come.”
