Today’s ride was a 56.2-mile trek from Jonesport to Machias. We started out heading across the bridge to Beals and then began peddling to the east, hugging tightly to the coast northward until crossing the Chandler River. Once we arrived in Jonesboro, we continued on to the Roque Bluffs State Park, a beautiful remote location with a half-mile sandy beach. Too bad we didn’t have time to dip our toes in the water!
A homemade lunch of delicious soups, salads, sandwiches and cookies was served at the Machiasport Fire Department. We continued on around Little Kennebec Bay, Bucks Harbor and to Jasper Beach before we doubled back to the top of the peninsula for our inland trek to Machias.

Once we arrived in Machias, we enjoyed live music by the Fremont String Band, where they sang and played bluegrass and folk music throughout the evening. Tomorrow we continue on to Eastport for a much-deserved rest day!

Welcome to Machias, we made it!

Home for the night in Machias. What a view!
