Branch lobbies are opening Monday, March 22nd!

To our Valued Customers and Friends,

We look forward to seeing you!

Today, on the one-year anniversary of the day we first closed lobbies to the public in 2020, we are pleased to announce that we are reopening 23 of our 24 branch lobbies effective March 22, 2021.  The lobby at our Exchange Street Portland branch will remain closed, but we’ll continue to offer walk-up and drive-up services at that location.

Our branch employees are excited to welcome our customers back into the branches again.  We will continue to adhere to Maine CDC guidelines, making masks and hand sanitizer available and encouraging social distancing.  Waiting areas in the branches will remain closed for now and there will be limitations on the number of customers allowed in the lobby at one time. These practices are still necessary in order to keep everyone safe.

You can view each branch’s hours of operation on our web site.

A year to come together

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted all of us – some at a higher degree than others.  But, even in the face of extreme challenges, there was positive news, too.  During 2020, the 300 employees of Norway Savings Bank demonstrated their commitment to our customers and communities in a variety of ways.

Since last April, our Commercial and Business Intelligence Teams – ably assisted by many fellow employees from across the bank – worked nights, holidays and weekends to get 1,900 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans totaling over $155 million out to businesses of all sizes, supporting more than 14,000 Maine jobs.

When the financial markets took a turn last spring, our Asset Management Group (AMG), reached out to every single one of their clients – often multiple times per day.  These calls were made to ensure clients felt safe, secure and confident in their investments. We’re proud to say that we were able to retain all of our AMG relationships, while also welcoming many new clients over the course of the last year.

With many of our customers impacted by job losses and furloughs, it was important to accurately and quickly process thousands of Economic Impact Payments, also known as stimulus payments.  Our Deposit Operations and Customer Care teams not only processed the payments, but fielded thousands of calls from customers desperately seeking assistance.

As Covid cases fluctuated over the past year, our branches went through various stages of opening, closing and reopening.  We want to thank our employees and customers for their flexibility, patience and commitment to helping keep each other safe as we navigated through the uncertainty of the pandemic.  Not only did we reach out to our customers to check on them, we had customers checking in on us!

It’s been a year of challenges, but also one of resilience.  As we reflect on the last twelve months, we are reminded how proud and grateful we are for our fellow employees, customers and communities. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Thank you!
